Grant Proposal Guidance for Core Grantees
Core Grantees are selected by invitation from the NWFE Board of Trustees. The invitations to send proposals are sent via email. Due dates for your organization will also be communicated via email.
Core Grants Proposals
- Proposals for a 3-year Core Grant should include:
- Organization Name
- Contact Person(s) with title, email and phone number
- Project Title
- Geographic Scope: (Eastern Washington, Western Washington, Statewide, Olympic Peninsula)
- NWFE Guideline: (Salt Water Ecosystems, Fresh Water Ecosystems, Growth Management)
- Maximum two-page description of the proposed scope of work and priorities
- Proposed scope of work and details about what is proposed. If this is funding for a specific project, provide details.
- How does this work extend or diverge from prior work funded by the NWFE?
- Explanation of how the work aligns with the NWFE priority areas (Fresh Water Ecosystems, Salt Water Ecosystems, and Growth Management)
- Specific outcomes or indicators of success after three years
- For those organizations whose work spans beyond the borders of Washington State, how does the proposed project focus on Washington State specifically?
- Budget information (1/2 page narrative in addition to organizational & project budget)
- Please provide an overview of your current organizational budget. Then, if possible, please share a budget for the specific project you’ve applied for. If your organization works across multiple states, please ensure your budget clearly shows your budget for the work you do in Washington.
- In your budget narrative (up to 1/2 a page), please help us understand what we should know about where our work fits into your overall budget, including other sources of funding for the work. Flag anything interesting that will help our board understand your funding.

Bridge Grant Proposals
(For 1 or 2 years of transitional funding, as specified in an email to your organization)
- Maximum 1-page description of the proposed scope of work and priorities
- Proposed scope of work and details about what is proposed.
- How does this work extend or diverge from prior work funded by the NWFE?
- Explanation of how the work aligns with the NWFE priority areas (Fresh Water Ecosystems, Salt Water Ecosystems, and Growth Management)
